Newlands, Carleton

Newlands, Carleton

Thomas Robley, who died on 8th September 1690, is the common ancestor of all the Robleys mentioned in this page. Newlands Farm, Carleton still exists, but the house in the photograph is not the one Thomas lived in.

Thomas was buried in Wetheral Churchyard.

He had 2 sons: John and Thomas, and 2 daughters, Ann & Mary. We know, from his will, that Ann married Richard Young. The surname of Mary's husband was Pattinson. Thomas inherited Newlands Farm, although he was the younger son.

The descendants of John are the Blackhall Park Farm, Burnthwaite; Woodhouse, Wreay; Scarrowmanwick, Kirkoswald and Cumwhitton Robleys.

The descendants of Thomas are the Scalesceugh, Carleton; Hesket-in-the-Forest; Skelton; Egremont; St. Bees and Beckermet Robleys.
