BIRTH
Thomas Robley, son of Thomas Robley and
Sarah Lowis, was born at Scarrowmanwick, Kirkoswald Parish in 1891. His grandparents were Joseph Robley and Jane Craggs.
He was the brother of Joseph Robley (1893-1918).

Thomas and his sisters Ada Mary & Sarah Margaret were born in Kirkoswald Parish (Scarrowmanwick).. Joseph was born in Lazonby, Cumberland. Two younger brothers John and William Lowis were born in Soulby, Westmorland

On the 1911 census Thomas is working as a cowman at a farm in Scarthingwell, Tadcaster, W. Riding of Yorkshire: "Thomas Robley cowman Married 23". Louise Robley is recorded at the same address: "wife Married 29 born Liverpool, Lancashire".

WAR SERVICE.
Thomas enlisted for Short Service (for the Duration of the War) on 18th December 1914. He was sent to France on 23rd November 1915 on the same day as his brother, Joseph. Thomas was killed in action on July 1st 1916 on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
